In 2005, Blueair was among the first to earn the ENERGY STAR designation. The ENERGY STAR program is sponsored by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Department of Energy.

Today, all models exceed ENERGY STAR's minimum energy efficiency guidelines of 2.0 dust CADR to watt ratio (see www.energystar.gov).
