About Vornado

The first Vornado fans were produced in the early 1940s by the O.A. Sutton Company. The unmatched power and unwavering performance of these early “Vornados” served as the foundation for the company's reputation as a Leader In Air Flow Technology.

After a generation full of innovations, Vornado reestablished consumer’s expectations of what a fan could do. In 1989, Vornado engineers, inspired by advanced propeller and jet engine designs, created the first whole room circulator.

These circulators benchmarked the successful design behind the Vornados of the 1940s and improved upon it with signature Vortex technology. “Vortex Action” allowed for the even distribution of all the air throughout an entire room as opposed to just the air directly in front of the unit.

Extensive research demonstrates that Vortex Action can also dramatically impact the performance of other products beyond air circulators and heaters including Vornado’s newest line of humidifiers and air purifiers. Because air has to be moved in order to filter it, Vortex action makes Vornado’s Whole Room Air Purifiers uniquely effective.
